Bright Side Learning uses the Little Learners Love Literacy Program to develop a strong base for the children’s reading, writing, spelling and speech skills. Bright Siders follow the story of ‘Milo Monkey’. Milo is having a birthday party and inviting lots of his friends. Each week we are introduced to a new friend of Milo's, like Sally Snake. Each animal friend helps the children learn all about that letter of the alphabet. The children develop their understanding of each letter through a range of fun, engaging activities that help them to read, write and spell words.

READING
Bright Siders learn to recognise the letters of the alphabet and pronounce the most common sound they make. We have so much fun watching the way our mouths move when we make each sound. This helps us to pronounce the sounds accurately. Children are taught the crucial reading skill of segmenting the sounds and blending them together to read words. After learning the first 8 letters in the Program, children take Little Learners Love Literacy books home to put their new skills into action!

RAINBOW WRITING
This is such a fun way to learn how to form letters correctly. Each stroke in the letter is written in a different colour to help the children visualise the starting point and direction each letter follows. Our letters end up looking like RAINBOWS! Bright Siders are supported to use correct pencil grip and build their hand strength to maintain this fine motor skill.

SUPER SPELLING
We love listening to Ally the Alligator as she makes the sounds in words. Then we spell the words using Milo's Alphabet Cards. Hearing the sounds in words and identifying the letters that make those sounds is a vital skill when it comes to reading and writing.
